Growth prompts new appointments at Siemon
Siemon, the network infrastructure specialist, announces the appointment of two well-known industry experts to their sales and technical teams. Tony Robinson RCDD joins as global accounts manager and Lee Funnell takes up the post of technical and training manager for UK, the Nordics, Middle East and Africa.
Lee Funnell comes from integrator Astro Communications where he was technical and training manager and before that was training manager with Krone. At Siemon he will be responsible for Certified Installer training, pre-sales and post-sales support and all technical support.
Funnell is probably best known as director of education for the Fibre Optic Industry Association (FOIA) and is also a member of the BSI (British Standards Institute) premises cabling experts panel.
Based from Siemon EMEA head offices in Chertsey, west of London, Funnell will travel extensively throughout the region. "Siemon has an excellent reputation for quality and that is borne out by what I've seen," he commented.
When he's not working Lee teaches Ju-jitsu and holds Fifth Dan status. He also enjoys entertaining others as an amateur magician.
Tony Robinson has been recruited in response to rapid and consistent business growth for Siemon in EMEA. His role encompasses the major global accounts within part of the EMEA region and he will be based from Leeds.
Before joining Siemon, Tony worked in the integrator market for PTC, Qualitas and Computacenter. Prior to that he launched a new solution in the UK for Schneider Electric and worked for several years for both Krone and Anixter.
According to Robinson he now wants to move back to the premium end of the market with a global manufacturer: "Siemon has the hold of the Category 7 market," said Tony, "and that's a big part of the attraction in joining them now. I see them as perfectly placed to capitalise as the market continues to adopt higher performing systems with improved return on investment from longer lifetime value. So far I've been very impressed by everyone within the company; they are highly skilled and very focused."
Outside office hours Tony enjoys a very busy social life and plays regular football with local Saturday and Sunday teams. He has two sons and also supports their sporting interests.
Commenting on the new appointments sales director Rob Tansley said "We are very pleased to have Tony Robinson and Lee Funnel on the EMEA team. Both have excellent credentials and together bring a wealth of industry knowledge to Siemon. Business has grown so much worldwide, and particularly in this region, that they will certainly be very busy."
