New Award announced at Siemon's first Distributor Conference
Representatives from cabling distribution companies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) gathered in the south of France on May 17/18 to attend Siemon's first distributor conference.
Carl Siemon, the President of Siemon - a global leader in the network cabling industry, welcomed the representatives from 14 countries to the conference, which was held in Nice.
Carl Siemon said: "Siemon has a network of distributors across the EMEA region and this is the first time that they have all met in one place. It's a great opportunity for them to learn more about Siemon's new products and services, establish relationships and share ideas and knowledge."
Keith Astin, Managing Director of Siemon EMEA said: "We've spent the last two years planning and investing in Siemon EMEA and a key part of that plan has been to establish a strong network of distributors. We are delighted this network is adding real value to the business.
He continued: "The purpose of the conference was to bring all our partners together. Cabling markets, particularly across Europe, are becoming more and more influenced by other countries, and by bringing European distributors together we can further improve our effectiveness on cross-border projects."
During the conference, Siemon launched its first Distributor Award to reward innovation and success. The winning company will be chosen by Carl Siemon and announced next year at the 2005 distributor conference.
Rob Tansley, Regional Director of Siemon, EMEA, launched the new award. He said: "The award will acknowledge the best performing EMEA distributor which undertakes creative initiatives and demonstrates an overall commitment to Siemon. We aim to achieve effective long term partnerships with our distributors and hope this award will help us achieve even greater success in the future."
The delegates had the opportunity to hear the latest about Siemon's global expansion programme and its new technologies, systems and products. There was also time to visit Monaco, the world's second smallest country.
Representatives from two of the UK distribution companies - Swale Components Ltd and Cablelines Ltd gave their opinion of the success of the conference.
Eric Spratling from Swale Components Ltd said: "The conference has been a great opportunity to meet distributors from other countries, share ideas and talk about different aspects of Siemon. The new distributor award will also be a good incentive for everyone during the next year."
Tim Hickinbottom from Cablelines Ltd said: "The conference has been a good opportunity to get everyone together as all the markets across the Siemon EMEA region are very different and we can share ideas and knowledge. The distributor award is also a good idea to focus individual companies more towards Siemon." His colleague Peter Pearson added: "The distributor award is certainly an interesting idea and I have already started a sweepstake."
